The bumper sticker of wrath

A chilling tale of anger and political hatred in Lacey, Washington:

My sister and I were stuck in traffic there on our way up to a concert in Seattle.

We were in a left-turn lane, and noticed an elderly man -- at least 75 years old -- in the lane to our right. He seemed to be muttering and trying to communicate with us somehow.

We thought he might want to get into our lane, or perhaps needed directions. So we pulled up and from the passenger side, I opened my window and was about to say "Sir, do you need any directions or anything?"

I didn't even have time to let a word slip out: he yelled right at me "OBAMA SUCKS AND SO DO YOU!"

Usually quick-tongued, I was tongue-tied. This was not at all what I had expected for our good intentions.

My sister yelped out a not-so-brilliant "Well, you suck too!" - -which we later agreed could have been a better-turned phrase. But who was I to say, having remained mute through the entire incident?

To close the little exchange, the geezer yelled "FUCK OFF!" at us and drove away.

Well hey, you are planning on voting for a Manchurian jihadist black panther Muslim. It's your own fault.

Finally got my MoveOn Obama sticker which I actually have in the window of my house (the glue is too weak to stay on the car all that long) but so far, no one has tossed a rock through it. Although it's early.

Some people need to get a life. Of course, I live in Obama-land here in Hyde Park, Chicago. He's practically a neighbor.
I'm not getting to Washington this summer, alas. I will be going to California in a few days. Not as good but a few days in Yosemite will be a good dose of mountains.

I have an Obama sticker with a PEACE SIGN in place of the O on my car. Do you think I'll get keyed??

I could go on . . . but I won't.

Oh, on a more hopeful note: my husband just told me that he was stopped at a light, when the driver in the car parallel asked him through their open windows where he had gotten the Obama sticker. So there's that. And we're in the Deep South.

tut-tut, It certainly came to my mind that I would never think of saying boo to someone with a McCain sticker. Not that I've seen any around here!

Apparently the "Land of the Free" is only for some... Oh wait, he had the free speech thing...
My, but tempers seem to be high...
I was thinking about visiting in November - maybe I'll wait!

Like the Kinks song. But I don't like the trends in U.S. politics. Check out my blog this weekend, Betty (the Empathic Rationalist). Circumstances have forced me to post twice.

Bit isn't about the level of the political debate in the US?

Obama sucks, he is not even a true american! He is a disgrace to all of us and our country. He needs to be kicked in the ass.

Is that $4.95 Pro-Obama sticker worth your car getting keyed or a few broken windows? Oh man, you really are a dumb fuck.. Vote YOUR OBAMA, he needs all the support he can get.

Of course, one is tempted not to publish the type of comments above, especially when the come from "anonymous."

Don't you love the threats to my car? It almost makes me laugh. I doubt anyone will beat up on my Obama-stickered car here where I live...
