Lest we forget...

Of course I am still basking in Obama's victory.

But I hope Americans will not forget the crimes of the past President.

They won't forget them they way they haven't forgotten those of Nixon and Reagan. The former became an adjective, the latter has been sainted.

I don't think either fate awaits Bush or his puppeteers, but all we're going to hear is about the need to 'heal.' Part of healing is making sure the infection doesn't have the chance to come back.

And another gang of white, Western war criminals gets away scot free.

You'll get no argument from me on the healing process, Randal.

I was just thinking this morning how the election of one president is often if not always a repudiation of the sins of the one before or the circumstances of his administration. I'd like to see Obama's election as a fresh start, a pro-active move, not merely a rejection of the hubris and crimes of the Bush administration.

It's been decades since we've had a decent president. I hope Barack Obama breaks that ugly chain.

Mimi, It's because I see it that way that I also think it's a bit of a shame that Bush and co. are going to get off the hook...

But I guess watching the implosion of the Republican party is some consolation.

As long as the goopers keep the infighting up through the next dozen or so election cycles, I could learn to live with that substitute joy.

Except that Cheney and Rummy will be scared to step outside the US ( forget about GW - he won't travel except going to Paraguay to assess and visit his land). Poor Richard Perle - he won't have big pow wow at Baux de Provence and Rummy will attend the Bilderberg Group meetings only in countries where the govt will ensure his safety and freedom
